Wang Yuanqi’s Spiritual Axis

[Wang Yuanqi’s picture axis]

The picture axis, Qing Dynasty, Wang Yuanqi’s painting, paper, ink, 137.2 cm vertically and 71.8 cm horizontally
This picture is made by Wang Yuanqi in imitation of Dong and Ju Shan Shui. According to the title, it was made for his disciple Ming Ji. Mingji is Jin Yongxi, one of the four disciples of Wang Yuanqi. Wang Yuanqi taught Mingji to learn about Dong and Ju’s paintings with the theme of “perfect and magnificent”. He believed that Dong and Ju’s paintings had the characteristics of “all are lost and magnificent”. To reflect this feature, it is necessary to have clear rules and clear rendering. However, it is not easy to achieve ingenuity and illusion. Therefore, the painting is all piled up into mountains with blocks of stones, and the strokes are integrated and the level is clear, and the painting is perfect and full of spirit with a close and airtight manner, This is a painting model made by the painter Ji Yisheng for his disciples. It is one of his masterpieces in his later years
From the top right of this painting, I know:
“To learn from the masters and giant paintings, you must be full of spirit. However, if the rules are not clear, you will not be full of spirit. If you do not render them, you will not be able to express your spirit. It is not a shallow scholar’s language.
Ming Ji asked Yu Yu about the painting, and made this picture. Only after years of poor management, but ultimately no ingenuity, can you know how difficult it is to enter the room. Ming Ji was reluctant to move.
The title of the fifth son of the emperor, the moon, the sun, and the sun. Wang Yuanqi.”
The seal of “Wang Yuanqi” was sealed by Bai Wen Zhu Wenyin of “Lutai”, Zhu Baiwen of “Imperial Calligraphy and Painting for People to See”, Bai Wenyin of “Shishi Taoist”, and Zhu Wenyin of “Xilu Descendants”. There are “Xuzhai identification”, “Laichen examines the authentic works” and so on
“Wuzi” is the 47th year of Kangxi (1708), when Wang Yuanqi was 67 years old
