Two court beagles hung with bells were playing in the rocks, one of which was black, so Emperor Daoguang wrote “Splash ink describes super handsome” next to it, and the other was black, white and yellow, and the other was “cut patterns and colors to tame the group”. The adorable puppy is a favorite subject of court painters.
