Ivory mirage scene screen, in the middle of the Qing Dynasty, has a height of 32 cm, a seat length of 21 cm, a width of 10.8 cm, a diameter of 14.8 cm, and a thickness of 4 cm
The scene screen is divided into three parts: seat, support and screen. The seat is rectangular, waist bound, and the flower teeth between the four feet are hollowed-out lotus patterns. The seat is equipped with painted teeth railings. Inside the railings, the lake stones are stacked, and pine, bamboo, plum, ganoderma lucidum, and fairy grass are planted all over it. Dyed with different colors, two quails stand on the stones and look at each other. A cloud floats in the middle and holds a Ruyi small screen on it. The small screen frame is decorated with nail patterns, and the inside edge is carved with curly grass patterns for a week. The screen view is carved with a “mirage” fairyland using the micro-carving technique. With the mountains as the background, there are three pavilions in front of the mountain, and the curved bars circle. The three stars of happiness, wealth and longevity are separated on three sides. The sea water under the curved bars is surging, and a tenon-shaped fairy boat is swung in the water. The children in the boat hold poles, and the old man sits cross-legged, holding the dust to point to the parking place. There are two children holding harps and bats on the shore to meet. The walls on both sides of the screen have two lights, and the light is a Ruyi pattern frame. The frame is symmetrically embossed with the patterns of two bats and three bats. The back wall of the screen is embossed with a circle of grass patterns, and the center is embossed with fruitful peach branches and ganoderma lucidum, with a flying bat on each side
This work uses carving, relief, mosaic and other techniques to depict the scenery exquisitely and clearly. The scenery is from near to far, with clear layers. It has 15 layers carved on 4 cm thick ivory. The pavilion’s curved bars are carved as thin as hair, and the figure’s demeanor is exquisite. The patterns on the screen and the seat express auspicious meanings such as “Zhi Xian Zhu Shou”, “Long Life and Peace”, and “Long Life and Ten Thousand Years”
This scenery screen is still white and delicate, and the flowers and branches are as complete as before. It is really a masterpiece of the palace furnishings
