(Interpretation of Zhu Da’s Book of Letters)
This volume is also called the “Thirteen Notes” volume, which is composed of thirteen letters written by Zhu Da. Each seal has the author’s title “Badashan people”, most of which are sealed with “Badashan people”, the fourth seal is “Badashan people”, the fifth seal is “Shide”, and the tenth seal is “Yaozhi”. Six of these thirteen letters are addressed to “Mr. Lucun”, six to “Xiweng” and one to “Abbot of Monk House”. In fact, they are all addressed to their friend Fang Shiguan, who is the patron and agent of painting and calligraphy of the Bada Mountain People. Therefore, most of the things mentioned in the letter are about the return of friends, including the appointment of painting, dinner, borrowing money, and giving gifts. From this, we can see a side of the life of the Bada Mountain People at that time, which has important literature value. From the perspective of calligraphy style and the form of signature, the thirteen letters are roughly the works of Zhu Da in his later years. Four articles on Li Baoxun’s topic are attached. “Li Wenshi”, “Chen Baoxun”, “Wenshi”, “Baoxun”, “Wenshi Father” and other seals. There is a poem written by the master of Youbeilu on the fourth reading in the second volume
It is a book of calligraphy that is free and easy to write, with alternate lines of grass and no sense of restraint. Because the calligrapher sends letters to his friends, he is free and unrestrained, and he runs around the paper, without hindrance, so he can get the real interest of his calligraphy. This book not only has certain historical value, but also has high artistic value in the art of calligraphy.
