[Wenzhu inlaid mother-of-pearl box]
Wenzhu inlaid mother-of-pearl box with a height of 6.5 cm and a maximum width of 24 cm
The box is in Fangsheng style, the cover and body are in the style of covering the sky and the ground, and the bottom is flat. Each top corner has a semicircular arc, which runs through to the bottom, forming a cylindrical shape, adding to the change of the shape of the vessel. The whole body is decorated with light-colored bamboo yellow, and the edge of the cover is inlaid with a layer of decorative strips in the form of Yang characters, which exactly outlines the contour line of two square overlapping corners. Inside, mother-of-pearl, jade, stained teeth, colored paint, betel wood, etc. are inlaid with dark eight immortal patterns, and the center is inlaid with a variant longevity pattern with red paint. There is a decorative belt for the cover and the body wall, which is carved in yin, which is different from the embossed text on the cover
The shape of the Fangsheng box and the patterns of the Dark Eight Immortals are not beyond the scope of the shape of the implements and auspicious patterns commonly used in the Qing court crafts, but this box still has quite clever details, especially the two parts of the collision of the Fangsheng box, which have different cover trimmings and round flowers on the top corner. The different patterns are displayed on the two parts of the vertical wall, which is more interesting. The overall effect is like two boxes colliding into one. In addition, the bottom edge of the box cover is not inlaid with bamboo yellow, which happens to form a section, and the process traces such as tire making, inlaying and splicing are clearly visible, which is a noteworthy part
