[Peacock stone plate]
Peacock stone plate, clear, 1.8 cm high, 20.7 cm long, 15.4 cm wide
The plate is made of green malachite, shallow and carved in the shape of lotus leaf. Inside and outside the plate are carved and embossed veins. This dish of malachite contains beautiful green patterns. Below it is a lotus branch carved in rosewood. The bright light plate and the dark wooden base match to form a bright color contrast
Malachite is an epigenetic mineral of copper. Because of its high copper content, it is green or dark green, also known as “stone green” in ancient times. According to the “Materia Medica”, “the stone is born in the copper pit, which is the ancestor of copper. Copper is green when it gets the gas of the purple sun, and green when it is green for a long time, which is called stone green.” Because of its color and its unique concentric round pattern, which is like the beautiful tail feathers of a peacock, it is named and therefore particularly precious.
