[Ren Yi Cloud Mountain Horse Riding Map Axis]

Cloud Mountain Horse Riding Map Axis, Qing Dynasty, Ren Yi painting, paper version, color setting, 135.5 cm vertically and 65 cm horizontally
The title of this picture is: “The mountain starts from the human face, and the clouds are born near the horse’s head. In the late summer of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, the mountain shade was painted by Ren Yi-niu and lived on the sea for several times.” The seal of two white seals: “Ren Bonian” and “Ren Yiyin”
Another title: “Brother Ai Ting, if he sees the wrong reward, he will give it to the right person. Ren Yi.” Two white seals: “Ren Yi seal” and “Ren Bonian”
“Bingxu” was the 12th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1886), when Ren Yi was 47 years old
This picture is based on Li Bai’s poem “Send a Friend to Sichuan”: “The mountain starts from the human face, and the clouds grow on the horse’s head” (see Volume 177 of “The Complete Tang Poems”). By depicting the mountains that rise in front of you and the white clouds floating at the horse’s head, the poetic image is vividly illustrated. The precipitous terrain of the mountains and the adventurous spirit of the travelers are clearly visible. This painting abandons the lofty, flat and far-reaching composition of traditional landscape painting, taking the “S” shaped ridge as the main line, highlighting the image of people and horses, and extending the vertical trend of the mountains, so that the spatial level of the painting can be expanded. It is a masterpiece of Ren Yi’s figure landscape painting in the mature period of art
