There is a self-title on the fan page: “The picture of the Tang scholar drinking. It was written in Zhengyun, the elder brother of Mao’an in Suyin Temple, and it was written in Shafu in the spring of 1898 in March.” It was sealed with the seal of “Shanchun” Zhu Wenyin
“Wuxu” was the twenty-fourth year of Guangxu’s reign in the Qing Dynasty (1898), when Shafu was 68 years old
“Tang Scholar” refers to Li Bai, a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty. The picture shows Li Bai drinking a glass. The author’s ingenious idea shows that Li Bai has the reputation of being a wine fairy and is worthy of his reputation by sitting on the slope stone after getting drunk and still asking for wine from the boy. At the same time, it also highlights the theme of “drinking”. The characters are outlined with ink lines, and the lines are inflexible and hard, showing the dynamics of the characters through their clothing patterns. The rocks and trees in the picture are directly stained with light color, which makes the picture simple and elegant and adds the elegance of literati painting
