The book box is flat and rectangular, divided into three compartments, with three sides fully open, with a back plate, and a bottle door shaped coupon opening on the side. The whole body is painted with black paint and sprayed with gold and silver mother-of-pearl. The inside of the three-layer back plate is decorated with the pattern of gold dragons playing with beads, and the clouds and water are painted between. The interior is painted with gold and pearl dragons, and the floor is decorated with checkered brocade patterns. The drawer board is decorated with gold flowing cloud patterns. The mouth of the pot door on both sides is decorated with gold hook lotus pattern. It bears four copper legs. The back is engraved with the four characters of the regular script “Da Ming Wanli Year System”
This article is simple and generous. It uses various techniques such as sprinkling mother-of-pearl, gold and silver foil and painting gold. It is very rare in large lacquer furniture of the Ming Dynasty.
