Colored Double Dragons Playing with Beads, Ming Wanli, 13.4 cm high, 30.5 cm diameter, and 26 cm bottom diameter
The round box is painted yellow, green and red from bottom to top, and then carved with patterns. Among them, the cloud dragon pattern, round light and the bottom sea water river cliff pattern carved red paint, the upper water brocade carved green paint, and the diamond ground brocade carved yellow paint. There is a round light in the center of the cover. The round light is divided into water and fire patterns. The two dragons face each other around the round light. One dragon head is on the top and the other dragon head is on the bottom, showing the potential of playing pearls. There are four lights on the top and bottom of the box wall, and the lights are decorated with chrysanthemums and peonies respectively. There are ganoderma lucidum patterns between the lights. The inside and outside of the box are painted with black paint, and the upper part of the outer bottom is carved with a knife and filled with the regular script of “Ming Wanli Yiwei Year System”. B Wei is the 23rd year of Wanli (1595). This box of knives is fast and sharp, with compact composition, clear layers, and well arranged. The yellow, red and green colors are interwoven, and it is dignified without losing its magnificence
The payment method of Wanli lacquerware has changed from the style of the previous dynasty, changing the six-character year to the eight-character year with Ganzhi, and has affected the payment method of Qing Kangxi lacquerware. Among the Qing Kangxi furniture in the Palace Museum, there is a black lacquer inlaid mother-of-pearl book frame with Ganzhi.
