Fang Yu Lu Wencai Double Mandarin Duck Ink, 9.6 cm in diameter and 1.6 cm in thickness
The ink is round, with raised edges and edges around it, and coated with gold. A rectangular column is raised in the center of one side, and the column is painted with the five characters of Jinyang running script “Wen Cai Shuang Yuan Yang”; On the left side of the column, near the edge, there are three characters in the regular script of “Fang Yu Lu made”, and on the right side, there are three characters in the regular script of “Draw a Star”. Two mandarin ducks are carved on the other side, with red, green and gold feathers, standing on the rocks on the river bank, head and tail staggered, staring at each other. On the side of the ink, there are three characters in regular script in Yangwen, “Great Country Fragrance”
This ink is included in Article 54 of Guohua, Volume II of Fang’s Ink Manual. It is a color ink handed down by Fang Yulu. The ink mold is exquisite and the ink quality is firm. It is a typical work of Fang Yulu’s ink products
At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, there were few people who painted gold on the ink. During the Wanli period, the trend of gold and color on ink began to prevail, reflecting the social atmosphere of advocating luxury at that time.
