[Colored Double Dragons Small Box]
Colored Double Dragons Small Box, Ming Wanli, height 61 cm, length 65 cm, width 40 cm. The old collection of the Qing Palace
There is a cover on the top of the box, a sliding door in the front, a wide seat under the box, and a red, yellow and green painted brocade floor is carved on the outside of the box. The door is decorated with cloud-head lighting, and the inside is carved with double dragons playing with fire beads. The flame on the top of the fire beads curls out the word “Shou”, with the word “Swastika” and three-star patterns on it. The four corners are decorated with tangled ganoderma lucidum and mixed with treasure patterns. The four side frames are made of diamond lighting, and the inside is carved with small flowers with tangled branches. The decorative patterns on both sides of the box and the cover are the same as those on the door, except that the dragon pattern is a single dragon playing with beads. The back of the box is green sea water, with a picture of pine and crane carved on it. There are six cranes, which means “six contracts for spring” and “pine and crane prolong the year”. There are five drawers in the box, and the surface of the drawer is carved with the pattern of cloud dragon playing pearls. The base is carved with small flower patterns
The overall paint layer of the box is relatively thin, but the knife work is rigorous and extremely fine. The expression methods of cloud and dragon patterns and tangled flowers all have the characteristics of the Ming Wanli carved paint. Although there is no inscription on the box, it is actually a high-quality product of the Wanli official carved paint
