Torgut waist Dao, in the late Ming Dynasty, with a total length of 85 cm. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The handle head is silver and round. One side of the handle is embedded with a red coral, and the other side is a silver ring. The scabbard is made of shark skin and cow skin, separated by silver thread, which is spiral. The scabbard is decorated with a white leather strip and written in three languages: Manchu, Mongolian and Chinese. The handwriting is not clear, but the words “Wobashijin” are still indistinct
At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the Erut Mongols living in the northwest were divided into four parts, namely, Junggar, Heshuote, Durbert and Turgut. With the growing strength of the Junggar tribe, the Turkut tribe was constantly invaded by it. In order to avoid annexation by the Junggar tribe, in 1628, the Turkut tribe, under the leadership of its leader and Erlek, moved westward to live in the Volga River basin. Since then, they have lived in a foreign country far away from the motherland for more than 140 years
The Turkut people living in a foreign country are heavily exploited and oppressed by the Tsarist rulers, and are always missing their motherland. At the same time, the motherland has not forgotten them. In the 51st year of Kangxi (1712), a delegation headed by Tulichen went to Russia to pay tribute to the Turkut people at the order of Emperor Kangxi, which strengthened the determination of the Turkut people to return to the motherland
In January of the thirty-sixth year of Qianlong’s reign (1771), the 27-year-old leader of Turkut, Wobashi, led more than 30000 families and about 170000 people to return to the motherland. Along the way, they went through untold hardships, broke through the encirclement and interception of tens of thousands of Russian troops, made great sacrifice, and finally returned to the motherland in the summer of 1771. Emperor Qianlong was extremely happy to hear the news. He highly praised the righteous deeds of the Turkut people, and made thoughtful and careful arrangements for the production and life of the Turkut people to make them live and work in peace and contentment
In September of the same year, Emperor Qianlong received and entertained Wobashi and others at the Summer Resort for many times. Wobashi then presented his ancestral waist knife to Emperor Qianlong
The return of the Turkut tribe to the motherland is a major event in the history of the relationship between the Chinese nation, which once again proves the great centripetal force of the Chinese nation.
