Youkan Rhinoceros Horn Sculpture Landscape Figure Cup, late Ming Dynasty, height 9.2 cm, caliber 17.8 × 10.3 cm
The cup is made of Asian rhinoceros horn. It uses the natural shape of rhinoceros horn to carve the cliff as the handle, and uses the landscape layout to depict a landscape figure showing a peaceful scene. In the picture, the ancient pines hang upside down, the pine leaves are fine, the tung, cypress and maple trees stand on the rocks, and the strong pine branches extend into the mouth of the cup. The rocks are scattered at the foot of the mountain, the stream is rippling, and a small boat paddles on the stream. The fisherman in the boat is catching the fish basket and catching the fish. The inner wall of the cup is embossed into a convex rock wall with flowing water texturing method. On the right side of the rock on the inner wall of the cup, there are two small seals of “Zhisheng” and “Youkan” in Japanese. This cup knife is exquisite in technique, bright in color and vivid in decoration. It is a masterpiece of rhinoceros horn carving in the late Ming Dynasty
