Painted Salesman Chart, height 5.2 cm, caliber 32.2 cm
This plate is painted with earth yellow, red, yellow, green and red from bottom to top. Inside the plate, the round open light is carved with a picture of a salesman. In the middle, an old man holds a drum with a peddler’s shoulder at the back. There are eight children playing with each other in the background. The picture is mainly red paint, with green, yellow and other colors, and yellow paint is used to carve the brocade pattern of heaven and earth. The plate edge is carved with red and green dragon patterns. The back edge of the plate is painted with glossy ganoderma. The foot is painted with red paint, and there is a knife carved in the middle and filled with gold regular script “made in Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty”
The paint quality of this plate is dry and gray, but the paint color is exquisite and unique. Although the paint color of this period is still mainly red, yellow and green, there are differences in color difference of the same color. The children’s dress and the flowers and leaves alternate in red and green, from red and green to yellow, and the color is revealed with makeup, with appropriate shade. The subject matter of painting is applied to the carved lacquer works, which makes the painted lacquerware show a new look. This picture should be based on the painting of a “merchant” by Su Hanchen, a painter of the Southern Song Dynasty
