Peacock green glaze is also known as “Facui”, “Feicui” or “Jicui” glaze. It is a medium-temperature color glaze with copper oxide as colorant. Its glaze color is bright and green, similar to the green on peacock feathers. Jingdezhen kiln started firing peacock green glaze porcelain from the Yuan Dynasty. The appearance of this color glaze is the inheritance and development of China’s traditional low-temperature lead green glaze. The famous work “Notes on Southern Kiln”, which was lost in the Qing Dynasty, said: “Fa blue and Fa cui are two colors. The old one is Chengyao, and jadeite is the best.” It is believed that the malachite green glaze was fired in Chenghua period at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, but from the perspective of handed down products and unearthed objects, it was fired in Xuande period, and it was continued in Chenghua, Hongzhi, Zhengde and Jiajing dynasties. In terms of quality, Zhengde products are the first.
