[Bright red glazed bowl with golden cloud and dragon pattern]
Bright red glazed bowl with golden cloud and dragon pattern, with a height of 8.8 cm, a caliber of 20.9 cm and a foot diameter of 9 cm
Bowl skimming, arc belly, thin bottom, circle foot. The whole body is painted with red glaze, and the edge of the mouth is white, which is called “the edge of the rushes”. Both the inner and outer walls are painted with the pattern of two dragons playing with pearls in gold color. The outer wall is painted with the pattern of deformed lotus petals in gold color near the bottom for a week. Although the gold color has fallen off, the pattern can be seen faintly. You can imagine the magnificence of the original gold color and bright red glaze. The foot is painted with white glaze
Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty once wrote a poem in the year of Ding You praising the Xuande red glazed bowl:
“When the rain has passed, the clouds are falling, and the sun is flying alone.
The marsh is dyed with iron and red sand, and this bowl of pottery is very beautiful.”
The body and glaze of the Xuande red glaze in the Ming Dynasty are slightly thicker than those in the Yongle period, and the red glaze is slightly darker, some are dark red, and the shape of the pottery is also more than that in the Yongle period. Because the copper red glaze is extremely strict with the kiln atmosphere and difficult to be fired, the red glaze products are gradually reduced after Xuande. The Ming Yongle and Xuande red glazed utensils seen today are all exquisite and precious.
