Carved red hibiscus pattern round box, Ming Yongle, height 7.3 cm, caliber 21 cm. The old collection of the Qing Palace
Cane box section type, straight wall, flat bottom. The box is full of blooming hibiscus flowers, and the side wall is ringed with peony, chrysanthemum, camellia, hibiscus, pomegranate and other flowers. The outer bottom is painted with black paint, and the left foot is carved with a knife and filled with the regular script of “Da Ming Xuan De Nian System” in gold, and there is a long smear mark under the script, which should be “Da Ming Yongle Nian System”
Hibiscus, also known as the wood hibiscus, frost-resistant flower, and magnolia, is one of the main flower varieties in late autumn. Therefore, Bai Juyi said in his poem, “Don’t be afraid of autumn without worrying about things, and the water lotus will bloom as soon as possible”.
