Red grape oval disk, Ming Yongle, height 3.1 cm, caliber 18.5-26.8 cm. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The plate is oval and painted with thick red paint. The center of the plate is carved with grape branches and leaves. The large grape in the middle is about 15mm higher than the center of the plate. The surface of the bulge is crystal clear and full. This treatment method of local bulge is almost round sculpture, which is unprecedented. The bottom of the plate is painted with black paint, and the knife is carved with gold in the six characters of “Da Ming Xuan De Nian System”. Under the six characters, the thin version of the “Da Ming Yongle Nian System” needle book is still indistinguishable
This is an excellent work of the orchard factory, an official lacquerware workshop in the early Ming Dynasty, which embodies the level and style of lacquer carving in this period
