The New Year’s Day refers to the beginning of the year. At this time, the new year begins again and everything looks new. The paintings of the New Year’s Day by painters of all dynasties contain the meaning of starting on the New Year’s Day and wishing everything good luck in the year. In a corner of the village, many children played gongs, drums and firecrackers in the courtyard, and enjoyed themselves. Three elders in the room drank at the same table and watched the children play. The trees and stones are outlined and painted, and then chapped and wiped. The distant mountains are painted with light blue. The strokes are steady and old, and the painting style is simple and primitive. Bingshen was the 13th year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1656), and Yuan Shangtong was 87 years old
