There are 12 characters in the seal script on the inscription, “The ancient valley city in the Han Dynasty was long dangling and the Yin made Zhang Jun express his praise”. The official script of the stele yang is 15 lines, and the full line is 42 words. The official name of the stele yang is Zhang Qian. Chen Liu has been my (now Ningling County, Henan Province). He was once the head of Gucheng (now the west of Luoyang City, Henan Province), and later moved to Dangyin (now Dangyin County, Henan Province). Therefore, the official Wei Meng and others remembered his virtue and published a stone table in February of the third year of Zhongping (186) of the Lingdi Emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty to record it. There are three columns of the inscription of the donor and the amount of money. The monument is stored in Dai Temple in Tai’an, Shandong Province
The Monument of Zhang Qian was unearthed in the early Ming Dynasty, and the earliest description was found in Du Mu’s Jin Xie Lin Lang

This tablet is a typical work with strong style among the Han steles handed down from generation to generation, and has always been highly evaluated. Yang Shoujing’s “The Record of the Ping Stele” in the Qing Dynasty said that it has “opened the style of the Wei and Jin dynasties in the use of the pen, which originated from the” Ode to the West Narrow “, and became the broken blade of the three steles of the Yellow Dynasty (” Shangzun Hao “,” Shou Chan “,” Kong Xian “), and then became the true book of the Northern Wei Dynasty,” Shi Ping Gong “and other steles.”
This rubbing is the rubbing of the early Ming Dynasty in the collection of the Palace Museum. The four words “Dongli Touch up” are intact. There are Baoxi’s autographs, Guifu, Guo Shaogao, Rulan, and Lu Shi’s postscript six paragraphs, Chu Fengchun, Wang Daxie, Weng Tonghe, and Chen Baochen’s observation notes, and 29 seals, including “Wu Men Ye Xiang’s Collection”, “Ye’s Secret Collection”, “Weng Bin Sun’s Seal”, and “Qiu Kangzuo”
This tablet is recorded in Sun Chengze’s “Records of the Gengzi Selling the Summer”, Ruan Yuan’s “Records of the Gold and Stone on the Left of the Mountain”, and Wang Zhuanghong’s “Supplementary Essays on the School Stele” and other books.
