The picture depicts two cranes walking leisurely in the bamboo forest. This picture shows the cooperation between Bian Jingzhao and Wang Fu. Bian Jingzhao painted cranes and Wang Fu painted bamboo. Bian Jingzhao is a representative figure of the court flower-and-bird painter of the Ming Dynasty. His painting style inherits the neat and rich style of the “courtyard style” of the Song Dynasty, and to some extent absorbs the characteristics of literati painting. Wang Fu was a famous bamboo painter in the early Ming Dynasty. His ink bamboo continued the tradition of Wentong and others in the Northern Song Dynasty, and played an important role in the history of bamboo painting. The crane painted by Jingzhao Bian in this painting is beautiful in shape, elegant in bearing, simple in pen and ink, meticulous and informal in color, and elegant in color. It is consistent with the ink and bamboo style of Wang Fu, which is clean and beautiful. The work gives people a fresh and earthy feeling. It is a successful work of professional painters and literati painters.
