Later, people recorded Wu Kuan’s Preface to the Bamboo Garden Shou Collection, as well as the postscript of Wu Kuan’s Preface to the Bamboo Garden Shou Collection, including Wu Kuan’s, Tu Kuan’s, Zhou Jing’s, Wang Ji’s, Min Kuan’s, Han Zhong’s, Qin Yuemin’s, Xu Jin’s, Li Mengbu’s and Gu Zuo’s, and the title of Zhou Jing’s Preface to the Bamboo Garden Shou Collection. According to the preface and the inscription, three people, Tu Yu, the minister of the Ministry of Public Affairs, Zhou Jing, the minister of the Ministry of Household Affairs, and Yu Shi Zhong, were on the 60th birthday at the same time. The various bureaucrats bought wine in the house of Zhou Jing to celebrate. This picture was drawn by Lu Ji and Lu Wenying to record their events
The form of “The Anthology” is derived from the Anthology of the West Garden by Li Gonglin in the Northern Song Dynasty. Xie Huan, a court painter in the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty, once wrote the Anthology of the Apricot Garden for the ministers of the court, highlighting the characterization of the characters, realistic appearance, and certain portrait characteristics. This form was popular in the early Ming Dynasty. This picture also follows its style. In the picture, three elderly people are the main figures, accompanied by guests and servants. All the people in the painting (except the child servants) are marked with their names. Some watch the cranes dance in the courtyard, some play with ink in the bamboo forest, and some write poems and articles on the stone table. Both guests and guests wear official robes. According to the official rank of the Ming Dynasty, the first to fourth grades are Fei robes, the fifth to seventh grades are green robes, and the eighth and ninth grades are green robes. The two people who are watching the scroll at the end of the scroll are painters Lv Ji and Lv Wenying, wearing green and cyan official robes respectively
Lv Ji and Lv Wenying also worshipped the Inner Court, which was called “Big Lv” and “Little Lv”. Lu Ji is famous for his flower-and-bird paintings. The background trees, stones, flowers and birds in this picture are neat and fine, close to Lu Ji’s style; Lv Wenying is good at characters and his works are rare. The figure in this picture has calm lines, the face is sketched and flat painted, the appearance is realistic, and the features are distinct. From the conception, layout, figure shape, and ink, it is quite similar to Lu Wenying’s painting style.
