[Chengjun’s room flat dragon round ink]
Chengjun’s room flat dragon round ink, with a diameter of 8.8 cm and a thickness of 1.6 cm
Ink round cake. The middle bulges and turns slowly to the edge. The front is carved with a dragon, curled in the shape of ink, and glared. The space between the abdomen and the tail is carved with the three characters of regular script in Yangwen, “Junfang ink”, and the two characters of regular script in Yangwen, “non smoke”, are carved near the edge. The back is carved with four small dragons winding around each other, holding or stepping on ganoderma lucidum
This ink is a typical ink product of the Ming Dynasty. It uses deep knife yin to carve ink patterns. The knife technique is simple and smooth, and the patterns are exquisite and vivid. The body of the carved dragon is thick and round, but not fat. This decorative pattern style is called “pearl and jade” by previous connoisseurs, and parallels with the sculptural style of sharp edges in the late Ming Dynasty.
