[Initial Rubbings of Cui Dunli Stele of Tang Dynasty]
Cui Dunli Stele, engraved in the first year of Tang Xianqing (656). Yu Zhining wrote an article and wrote a political book. The rubbings are 27.2 cm in length and 18.2 cm in width, 22 in total. The seal script on the top of the tablet is entitled “The tablet of the Duke Cui of Gu’an Zhao of the State of Zhu”, which was written by the crown prince of the Tang Dynasty and the junior division of the State of Chu. The monument is now in Zhaoling, Liquan, Shaanxi Province. Most of the inscriptions on the tablet are broken, with more than 500 words remaining
The calligraphy of Cui Dunli Stele is elegant and beautiful, and the strokes are round and vigorous. The “Yu Shi” written by Ye Changchi of the Qing Dynasty said: “Yu Lizheng and Gao Zhengchen are also among the class of Chu Yaya. The small script is elegant, its structure is like Yu, its pen is like Chu, and its view is also similar to Wang Zhijing’s” Stele of Wei Jingwu “.”
This is an initial rubbing found in Xi’an around 1931. It was originally collected by the Hu Stone Museum of Zhu Zhongzong in the Ming Dynasty, and later by Zhu Yiyi. It is now in the Palace Museum. Wujintuo, cut and mounted book, hemp paper. This book has 1466 words in total, followed by an anonymous postscript, with “Zhu Zhongzong Hu Shiguan Collection” and other seals. There are more than 10 words more than those collected by Pan’s family in Wu County
This tablet has been recorded in the “Treasure Carving Series” by Chen Si of the Song Dynasty, the “Records of Gengzi Selling the Summer” by Sun Chengze of the Qing Dynasty, and the “Records of Jinshi Characters” by Gu Yanwu.
