Statue of King Xing Zhu You

[Statue of King Xing Zhu You Ju]

The Statue of King Xing Zhu You Ju, Ming Dynasty, silk version, color setting, 108.3 cm vertically and 76 cm horizontally
The painting has no signature and should be painted by a court painter. The figure in the painting takes the front portrait, outlines the outline with line drawing, and then paints it with color. The facial features are not haloed. The clothing focuses on highlighting the classic features, and the pattern is clear, which is separated from the wrinkles of the clothing pattern. The whole painting is flat and bright, with more forms than characters, so it is slightly stiff and rigid
Zhu Youyu (1476-1519), the fourth son of Emperor Chenghua of the Ming Dynasty, was born to the concubine Shao. In the 23rd year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1487), he was granted the title of King Xing. In the 14th year of Zhengde (1519), on June 17, he died at the age of 44, and his posthumous title was King Xian. In the 16th year of Zhengde (1521), Wuzong collapsed and had no offspring. Zhu Houyi, the cousin of Wuzong and the son of Youyi, succeeded the emperor, namely Jiajing. Emperor Jiajing pursued his father Youyi as “Xing Xian Emperor”
In the picture, Zhu Youyu is dressed in the imperial costume of the Ming Dynasty. This picture should not be a portrait of him before his death, but a work after Jiajing.
