On March 3, the ninth year of Yonghe’s reign (353), Wang Xizhi held a ceremony with his friends in the Lanting Pavilion, where he wrote the famous poem preface, which was collected by Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty. Although the original work has been lost, it has been transformed into numerous copies and stone carvings since the Tang Dynasty, and has become a model for calligraphers of all dynasties Dingwu Orchid Pavilion is one of them, named after Dingwu, Hebei, where the stone was found.
