The 16-petal diamond-shaped mouth, folded edge, shallow arc wall, circle foot, and interior and exterior blue and white decoration. The inner bottom is painted with two mandarin ducks swimming in the lotus pond, one mandarin and one duck looking forward to love. Both the inner and outer walls are painted with lotus patterns on tangled branches, and there are six blooming lotus flowers on the stems. The folding edge is painted with diamond brocade patterns. There is no glaze in the ring foot. The inner wall of the ring foot is beveled
The theme decoration on this plate is the picture of mandarin ducks in the lotus pond that people like to see on the inner bottom, which is a common decorative theme on the blue and white porcelain of the Yuan Dynasty. Some are only painted in the lotus pond, and some are painted with birds (only mandarin ducks and egrets) in the lotus pond. Most of them are painted on the inner bottom of the large plate and bowl, and some are painted on the outer wall of the eight-rimmed large pot
This “pond scenery” is the “full pond” pattern on the embroidery products recorded in ancient literature. As early as in the Southern Song Dynasty, Wu Zimu recorded in the 13th “Night Market” article of the “Dream of Liang Lu” volume that the items sold in Lin’an night market in summer and autumn at that time included “embroidered lotus vests”. Ke Jiusi (1290~1343), a painter of the Yuan Dynasty, said in his Fifteen Poems of the Palace: “The water in the lotus pond is full of blue radii (r á o sound, the oars in the boat), and the emerald mandarin ducks are playing with the green sweet potatoes. He said that he should keep in mind with the baby and embroider the royal clothes into full pool jiao.” Ke said to himself: “In the calendar days, the royal clothes are mostly small pond scenery, called ‘full pool jiao’.” Because the “calendar days (1328~1331)” is the title of the Yuan Wenzong Tutamir, It is said that the Emperor Wenzong’s imperial dress has the pattern of “full of pool jiao”. The collection of the old people in Kexian (Volume II) of the Yuan Dynasty contains: “Mandarin ducks are full of pond jiao, and several pieces of colorful golden velvet are embroidered. In the morning and evening, the emperor’s birthday will be held in the Ming Dynasty.” It can be seen that “full pond jiao” is the name of a kind of palace dress pattern, depicting the flowers and birds in the pond.
