The collection includes “Shaoxing”, “Neifu Book Seal”, “Zhenyuan”, “Qiankun Qing Appreciation”, “Ming Wang’s Book Seal”, and Qing Jiaqing’s Neifu Seal. After the volume, there are Wu Kuan and Wang Shizhen of the Ming Dynasty
This volume is a burned version, which was supplemented by Xia Desheng of the Ming Dynasty (see the words in [] in the explanatory text)
This volume is contained in the “Collection outside the Valley”, written in the third year of Yuanyou (1088) of the Northern Song Dynasty, when Huang Tingjian was 42 years old. The style of the work is old, with more bones and less flesh. It has the style characteristics of the author’s calligraphy in his later years. After the volume, Wang Shizhen of the Ming Dynasty commented in his postscript: “… The old Du Huan Huaxi picture is also cited. The lyrics of the song are curious, but it is the most cooperative language of the public. The strokes are horizontal and loose, and the posture is a little easier to read than that of Su Shi. The knot method is dense, the strength of the wrist, and the magic of the waves are small.” It can be seen that the book “Su Shi” refers to Huai Su, a famous calligrapher of the Tang Dynasty. Wang Shizhen’s comparison of the calligraphy characteristics of Huang Tingjian and Huai Su is very accurate. Although this work has many defects, it is still a masterpiece
It is recorded in the first volume of Sun’s Calligraphy and Painting Notes, and the third edition of Shiqu Treasure Collection, Yanchun Pavilion.
