The wares of the official kilns, Ge kilns and Longquan kilns in the Song Dynasty are often dark brown at the unglazed part of the feet, which is called “iron feet”. The reason is that the fetal bone of this kind of utensil has a very high iron content, which appears in the exposed part of the foot with strong reduction effect.
