Tapestry flower and bird picture axis

[Axis of flowers and birds with tapestry]

Axis of flowers and birds with tapestry, Song Dynasty, 26 cm vertically and 24 cm horizontally
The drawing axis is copied from the manuscript of Zhao Ji, Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty. The color halo of flowers and leaves and the texture of bird feathers are vividly represented by complex techniques such as flat tapestry, tapestry, coiling, long and short tapestry, wooden comb tapestry, and color line. The fineness of the shuttle and silk transport makes the taped objects soft and beautiful in lines and bright in color, which better reflects the fine, soft, elegant and noble artistic style of the original painting. At the edge of the picture are the “imperial book” and the “one person in the world” seal of Zhao Ji
After the Song Dynasty, the techniques of Kesi became more and more varied. The works of Kesi were mostly based on celebrity paintings and calligraphies, and were copied with skilled and complex techniques in order to express the charm of the original work.
