Xicun Kiln Green and White Glaze Brown Spot Engraving Phoenix Pattern Bowl, Song Dynasty, 8.9 cm high, 33.3 cm caliber, 9.5 cm foot diameter
The edge of the bowl is folded, the arc wall is curved, and the foot is circled. The whole body is painted with blue and white glaze. The insole is carved with phoenix pattern and decorated with five groups of regular brown stippling. The inner wall is carved with the lotus pattern of tangled branches, and the pattern is randomly dotted with brown dots. The plain surface of the outer wall of the bowl has no decoration
The bowl is large and regular in shape, and decorated with a combination of carving and stippling. It is complex but not disorderly, and is the representative work of Xicun kiln porcelain in the Song Dynasty
Blue and white glaze carving and brown stippling are unique varieties of Xicun kiln. This kind of stippling technique has been found in the celadon wares unearthed from the Jin Tomb in Guangzhou. It can be seen that it was handed down from the Jin Dynasty.
