Pottery painted female figurines, the seventh year of Shengyuan (943) of the Southern Tang Dynasty of the Five Dynasties, are 49 cm high
The female figurines have round faces, high buns and hands on the chest. Wearing a bra inside and a coat with a front coat outside, plus a cloud shoulder Chinese dress, with ribbons at the waist, long sleeves hanging down, and the upper toe of the dress slightly exposed
From the analysis of its gorgeous clothing and elegant temperament, the female figurine symbolizes the image of a woman with a high status. In terms of modeling techniques, it inherits the excellent tradition of Tang Dynasty sculpture, such as applying powder, applying Zhu, and having a round face, which can vaguely show the charm of Tang Dynasty. This female figurine was unearthed in 1950 at the imperial tomb of Li Xuan, the martyr of the Southern Tang Dynasty, in Zutang Mountain, Jiangning, Jiangsu Province. Therefore, it is not only a precious relic of the sculpture of the Five Dynasties, but also provides us with image data for studying the life of the Southern Tang Dynasty palace.
