The Living Law of Immortals is an ancient exercise written by Yang Ning. Its style is similar to a pithy formula
Explanations:
“Immortal living method. Walk, sit, and lie down, rubbing the side and belly with your hands. When your stomach is full, your two hands are down. Sit on your waist, and your back is rubbing the kidney with your fist. Only then do you feel tired, even if your family helps you. You do it frequently, day and night are endless. After years of success, you gradually enter the Immortal Road. At the end of the first year of Qianyou’s winter, the people of Huayang Jiao respect their teachers, and pass on the Yang Ning style (the next straw).”
There is Song Mi Youren on the back paper, Shang Ting of the Yuan Dynasty, Zhang Xiaosi’s inscription of the Qing Dynasty and five lines of the anonymous script interpretation. In the lower right corner of the front of the volume is the number of “Mo” in Ming Xiang Yuanbian
There are “Shaoxing” and “Neifu Book Seal” in the Song Dynasty, Yang Shiqi, Chen Chun, Xiang Yuanbian in the Ming Dynasty, Zhang Xiaosi, Chen Ding, and Neifu in the Qing Dynasty on the front, back and across the water
This volume was originally owned by the Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty and later entered the hands of Jia Sidao. In the Ming Dynasty, it was once “Jiangyin Ge Weishan Collection” (Du Mu’s “allegorical compilation”). The “Qinghe Calligraphy and Painting Boat” was also known as “the collection of the Wang family of the county”. It was owned by Xiang Yuanbian in the Ming Dynasty, and entered the internal government in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty
From the Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty, Yang Ning’s style of calligraphy was a turning point. Su Shi commented: “Since Yan and Liu did not exist, the style of writing has declined. In addition to the turmoil at the end of the Tang Dynasty, the characters have withered, and the literary grace and style have been swept away. Only Yang Gongning’s style of writing is outstanding, including two kings, Yan and Liu Zhiyu. This is really a hero of calligraphy, which is not lost by the times.”
This small cursive script is a work of Yang Ning’s style at the age of 76. The style of writing is powerful and easy, and the side is changeable. The ink is thick and light, and sometimes the dry pen is white. The composition of the characters in the book seeks to be flat and correct in the dangerous side, and the spacing between the lines is quite sparse. On the basis of inheriting the calligraphy of the Tang Dynasty, it creates a new style with the characteristics of seeking to be correct in the dangerous side, which is full of naive interest. This book is the representative work of Yang Ning’s cursive calligraphy, which has a great influence on the calligraphy of the Song Dynasty
In the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Cunli’s “Iron Net Coral”, Du Mu’s “Allegorical Compilation”, Zhang Chou’s “Qinghe Calligraphy and Painting Boat”, Bian Yongyu’s “Collection of Calligraphy and Painting in Shigutang”, Gu Fu’s “Splendid Life”, Wu Sheng’s “Grand View Record”, the “Shiqu Treasure Collection – Three Compilations” of the Qing Dynasty’s internal government, Hu Jing’s “Notes of the Western Qing Dynasty” and other books have been recorded
