Yan Zhenqing’s regular script Zhushan Hall couplet

[Yan Zhenqing’s regular script Zhushan Tang Lian Sentences]

The book Zhushan Tang Lian Sentences, in the Tang Dynasty, is said to be Yan Zhenqing’s script. The silk script and regular script are in 15 sizes, each of which is 28.2 cm in length and 13.7 cm in width
The seal collection includes the “Shaoxing” of the Song Dynasty, the “seal of the imperial government”, the “Jingxi and Jingzhi” of the Ming Dynasty, the “Shimao” of the Ming Dynasty, the “Liangqingbiao” and “Anqi” of the Qing Dynasty, the “Ye Gongchuo” of the modern era, and the “Zhang Heng” of the modern era
There is a regular script inscription on the front of the opening: “Yan Lugong Zhushan Lian Sentences of Poems, Top Grade”. On the back of the paper are three inscriptions and postscripts of Song Mi Youren, Yao Nai and Tie Bao of the Qing Dynasty
In March of the ninth year of the Dali reign of the Tang Dynasty (774), Yan Zhenqing, then the governor of Huzhou, gathered with his subordinates Li calyx, Lu Yu, Shi Jiaoran, Lu Shixiu, Wei Jie and others in the “Zhushan Hall” of his friend Pan Shu’s house. During the banquet, he recited poems. Each person wrote two sentences in turn, and linked them into a piece called “Zhushan Hall Lian Sentences”. Later, it was recorded by Yan Shi, who was 66 years old
This book was originally mounted in the form of a whole piece, and then cut and mounted into a volume. It is almost a patchwork, and the rules are broken. Yan’s regular script is generally thin in horizontal and thick in vertical. It is powerful, broad and magnificent. The first regular script ink is “Self written to Tell the Body”, which is clear and rigorous. However, the horizontal and vertical strokes of this book have no change, and there is no difference in thickness. However, Mi Youren was ordered by Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty to post two lines at the end of the volume, which is the legacy of the imperial palace in Shaoxing. It can be seen that this volume will be cut no later than Shaoxing, but not Yan’s ink. At present, there are different opinions about whether it is a copy from the Tang Dynasty or the Song Dynasty
Zhan Jingfeng of the Ming Dynasty, “Xuanlan of the East Picture”, Gu Fu of the Qing Dynasty, “The Magnificence of Life”, Bian Yongyu, “Collection of Paintings and Calligraphy in the Ancient Hall”, and An Qi, “Collection of Monuments”.
