Zhu Zi, also known as “holding pot”, is an ancient wine vessel rather than a teapot. It was popular from the middle of the Tang Dynasty to the Song Dynasty, and evolved from the chicken head pot or pan mouth pot popular since the Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties. In the early Tang Dynasty, the body was short and fat, the neck was short, the abdomen was round and full, the flow was short, and the glaze could not be applied to the end. In the late Tang and Five Dynasties, the body was lengthened, the neck was slightly higher, the abdomen was oval or melon shaped, and the flow and handle were lengthened, making it light and beautiful. In the Song Dynasty, the body of the pot became thinner and longer, with melon prisms as the common shape. The flow, mouth and handle were higher, and some products were often used with warm bowls.
