[Three-color Hu figurine]
Three-color Hu figurine, Tang Dynasty, 70 cm high, 34.3 cm wide
The figurines wear Futou head, high nose, deep eyes and thick mustache. Wearing lapels, waist lace, feet climbing boots, holding the reins with both hands, it seems to be leading camels or horses. Many of the Hu people in the tombs of the Tang Dynasty are related to camels. Du Fu’s “allegory” poem reads: “Qiang women light the beacon, and Hu children make camels.” It reflects the real life that Hu people are good at domesticating camels
