Pottery sheep

[Tao Yang]

Tao Yang, from the Eastern Han Dynasty, is 12 cm high and 17 cm long
Tao sheep has a strong body and obvious muscle sense. There are nipples hanging in the lower abdomen. The head is slightly raised and twisted to the left. The two ears are straight on both sides of the head. The mouth is open and seems to be singing. The limbs are separated before and after walking. The work seems to show a ewe looking for a lamb. It is eager, and the image is natural and vivid. Unearthed in Baiquan, Huixian County, Henan Province in 1951
Ancient craftsmen used sculpture techniques to artistically express the animal images observed in life, and these works can still feel beautiful today.
