This group of pictures is derived from images taken by Mary Alice Thompson (1856-1936), a western missionary. She was accepted as an honorary missionary by the Church Missionary Association in July 1892 and went to China in October. She and her missionary colleagues worked in Sichuan, China, from 1892 to 1900. These photos depict the scenes of Sichuan people’s daily life
