At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the old photos of the four imperial examination halls (examination halls) in China
were the examination halls of the ancient country examinations, that is, the places where people began to learn from science. Tribute means to select talents to contribute to the emperor or the country through examinations. Tribute Hall was first established in the Tang Dynasty. There are now Jiangnan Tribute Hall, Beijing Tribute Hall, Dingzhou Tribute Hall, Chuanbei Daogong Hall and other sites, among which Nanjing Jiangnan Tribute Hall is the most famous as the largest imperial examination venue in ancient China
清末中国四所贡院的号舍(考棚)老照片
贡院,是古代乡试的考场,即开科取士的地方。贡,就是通过考试选拔人才贡献给皇帝或国家的意思。贡院最早始於唐朝。现存有江南贡院、北京贡院、定州贡院、川北道贡院等遗址,其中南京江南贡院作为中国古代最大的科举考场最为出名。
