This group of photos is from Smith&# 12539; The private photo album of Sydney. Smith Sydney and his wife worked in Shanxi Province, China, as Baptist missionaries from 1907 to 1915. They took these photos. This group of photos is part of Xin County, Shanxi Province, and two photos are taken of local beggars in Shanxi Province. It is impossible to verify whether they were taken by Qi County
Xin County is located in Quxian County, Hanyang. During the Three Kingdoms Period, the State of Wei set up prefectures and counties, which were managed by Xiurong County. It was named Xinzhou in the Tang Dynasty and was subordinate to Dingxiang County. During the Republic of China, the prefecture was changed into a county, which was subordinate to Yanmen Road in Shanxi. In 1983, Xinxian County was changed into Xinzhou District. In 2000, with the approval of the State Council, Xinzhou Prefecture and Xinzhou City at the county level were abolished and Xinzhou City at the prefecture level was established
