When the time came to the morning of June 10, 1907, five cars started from the French barracks in the area of the Beijing legation. They passed the Great Wall of China, across the Gobi Desert, the Ural Mountains and Prussian Poland. It took one month to travel from Beijing to Zhangjiakou, because there was no road in many places and people had to carry the car. It took one month to drive from Zhangjiakou to Paris, which should have been a great achievement at that time.
