This group of photos is from an Italian book: History of Chinese Photography: Western Photographers 1861-1879), in which there are five old photos of Wuhan developed by French photographer Paul· Paul Champion took the picture between 1865 and 1866, which is earlier than the Yellow Crane Tower taken by British traveler Thomson in 1871

这组照片出自一本意大利书籍:《中国摄影史:西方摄影师1861-1879)》,书中发展有了5张武汉老照片,由法国摄影师保罗·尚皮翁(Paul Champion)于1865年到1866年间所拍,比以前认为的1871年英国旅行家汤姆逊所拍的黄鹤楼更早。

可以看到蛇山黄鹄矶头本该是黄鹤楼的位置空空荡荡,这与历史记载的清代黄鹤楼1856年毁于战火,1868年才重建的记载相吻合,证明这张照片摄于1868年以前。
