This is a group of old photos of Taiwan at the end of the Qing Dynasty, mainly recording the stories of Pastor Ma Kai living and preaching in Taiwan
George· Leslie· George Leslie Mackay (March 21, 1844— June 2, 1901) dedicated his life to the priests in Taiwan, China, China. The name of the Han people is Kai Ruili, but the Taiwanese people generally call him “Dr. Ma Kai”
Christianity was very prosperous in the East at that time, so the Canadian Presbyterian Church sent Mackay to the East to preach in 1871. Mackay first went to Hong Kong, and then passed through Guangzhou, Shantou and other places in China. In 1871, he arrived in Taiwan, China, China, and began to preach in Huwei (now Danshui Town, Taipei County) to learn Minnan. He traveled around to preach, except for more than 20 churches in Danshui, Mengjia (today’s Wanhua), Xikou (today’s Songshan), Dadaocheng, Wugu, Miaoli, Taipei, Keelung and Hsinchu. Ma Kai also went to Yilan, Hualian and other aboriginal places to preach in 1883, and the Suao Church was established in 1887. Later, in order for women to be taken care of, Ma Kai decided to marry a Taiwanese woman. Later, Ma Kai found his other half in Wugu Village (now Wugu Township, Taipei County, Taiwan, China, China)&mdash& mdash; Ms. Zhang Congming was married in 1878
