Zhang Bolin’s Chinese Photography Collection in 1909 (29) A Journey from Fengjie in Yunyang to Wushan

On January 4, 1909, an American geologist, Zhang Bolin, and his son, Luo Lin, set out from Chicago and arrived in Shanghai on February 2 of the same year. 下午3点18分，考察团乘坐的木船到达了兴隆滩，罗林和其他人都站在岸边，看着激流奔涌。

罗林回忆道，他们是在下午5点30分到达的云阳县，因为船长不想在大雨和强劲的逆风中航行，因而在云阳县的江段过夜，来到了岸上，云阳的街道很脏，建筑也显得破败不堪，当夜雨仍然下得很大，直到第二天上午9点才放晴，在早上耽误的时间里，考察团一行乘船来到对岸，参观了张飞庙，罗林看到庙里有很多小房间，古迹遍布，不过远远没有在江中看到的雄伟，他还特地对比了灌县的二王庙，认为二王庙更加气势恢宏。

4月28日下午4点30分，考察团到达了夔州府（今奉节），这是罗林在快到夔州的上游某处拍摄的岸边风光，此时天空已是蓝天白云，江水稍缓。

罗林给他们乘坐的客船船长和他的表弟拍摄了一张合影，人到中年的船长显得很沉稳，不愧为常年闯鬼门关的船老大，表弟则稍微有些腼腆，眼睛都不敢上看，他们下方可以看到船夫们在撑着篙。

下午4点30分到达夔州府，4点48分上岸，罗林他们爬到城市后面的小山，拍下了这幅极为珍贵的奉节全景照片。

罗林站在城墙上，往西边拍摄，从这个画面中，我们可以看到城内城外几乎一样繁华。

考察团当天下午6时15分离开夔州，当时风虽然不大，但正在往下游吹，为了充分利用顺风的每一分钟，尽快通过风箱峡谷，他们航行了1个多小时才过夜，第二天的4月29日早晨7点半到达巫山县，这是罗林在巫峡入口拍摄的照片，据3月16日他在同样位置时，已过去了一个月13天。

罗林在巫峡中，所拍摄的巫山十二峰之一的集仙峰，到12点18分，考察团所乘的船上离开巫峡，很快刮起了一股强劲的逆风，导致船长系住了船，等待它风平息下来。

出了巫峡，在青石村到培石乡的江边峭壁古栈道上，罗林拍摄了这座古桥，其名为无夺桥，可惜因为大坝蓄水而被拆除。

在下午晚些时候，船开动了慢慢地前进，直到天黑。罗林在回忆中对风的重要性印象深刻，早上，他们只是偶尔用桨，但由于背后刮着很大的顺风，行进的速度令人惊讶，到了下午，由于逆风，船却常常走不动。
