The Sino Japanese War: Huayuankou Login (Part 1)

This post is a real war photo taken by Japanese military reporters in the same year. It mainly reflects the battlefield conditions of Japan’s entry into Huayuankou during the Sino Japanese War of 1894. The photo is mainly taken from the Japanese war pictorials issued in that year, such as the Japanese Qing War Photo by the photo class of the Land Survey Department of the Japanese Army Staff Headquarters, and the Japanese war pictorials of the Battle of the Twenty seventh and Eighth Years of the Meiji Period by Keii Zmin

Huayuankou is located in a small bay on the Yellow Sea coast on the east side of Liaodong Peninsula (today’s southwest of Zhuanghe County, Dalian City). Facing Dalian Changshan Islands across the sea in the south, there are hills on three sides behind. The southwest is about 100 kilometers from Dalian Bay and 80 kilometers from Jinzhou. It is about 40 kilometers away from Zhuanghe downtown. After the Yellow Sea Battle on September 17, 1894, the Japanese base camp was organized into the Second Army, and the Chief of Staff of the Joint Fleet, Mr. Gui Dazuo, and others were asked to choose the landing site in Liaodong Peninsula. On October 5, Shadao informed the headquarters that Huayuankou near Piziwo was a suitable landing site
