- Description:
The silkworm ceremony was presided over by the empress, who led the concubines to worship Lei Zu, the silkworm god, and to collect mulberry and feed silkworms, in order to encourage the Chinese people to be diligent in weaving, which was opposite to the ceremony presided over by the emperor. Through such a ceremony, it not only means to reward farmers and mulberry trees, but also clearly defines the work division of men’s farming and women’s weaving. Since the Zhou Dynasty, it has been followed in many dynasties.
