Description:
A piece of ivory is used to carve out mountains, winding bridges, pavilions, three cranes in a boat, and 16 tourists. They can sit, stand, fish, or play chess. On the wall of the mountain on the back of the utensil was engraved in black script: “In the winter of Wuwu, the third year of the reign of Qianlong, my minister granted him a courtesy.” The third year of Qianlong was 1738 AD. When Puyi left the palace, this work was stored in the Heart Nourishing Hall. Its original name was “Ivory Landscape Figures”. Fengqi was originally named Fengshiqi. His father granted Xilu and his uncle granted Xizhang an office in the late Kangxi period, which was called “the Hall of Heart Cultivation”. Feng Shiqi and his younger brother Feng Shihao served together in the Forbidden City in the Yongzheng Dynasty and Shi Tianzhang, a fellow disciple, engaged in ivory carving. The carving skill of Feng Qi has been handed down by his family. The Feng family in Jiading is most respected for their “bamboo root figures”, but they are also good at carving fruit stones and ivory.
