- Dynasty: Western Han dynasty
- Category: Jades
- Function: Costumes, accessories, and artifacts
- Material: Minerals/Jade Jewelry/Jade
- Description:
White jade with light ochre dots. The whole vessel is cicada shaped, with a round hole drilled above the center, thick in the center and thin on both sides. Use simple lines to show the wings, body, head and other parts. Most of the jade cicadas in the Han Dynasty are dark green jade, and the workmanship is simple. This is because the function of the cicadas is to place them in the mouth of the deceased great nobles in order to become the funeral jade of rebirth. Because of the way it is used, there is no need to tie and pierce. Later generations did not know the original function of the cicada, but changed it to wear a jade pendant.
