This jade axe is covered with dye, The original jade quality and color are unknown. From the perspective of shaping, it is between Dawenkou culture and Shandong Longshan culture: because Dawenkou culture has more jade axes with arc blades, but Shandong Longshan culture has more jade axes with two holes. In the first year (the first year of Jiaqing, 1796) when Emperor Qianlong of the ancient times served as the supreme emperor after his retirement, he wrote two poems for him: “Chanting the Ancient Jade Axe Pendant” and “Chanting the Old Jade Axe Pendant again” (included in Volume 16 and 8 of Complete Works of Imperial Poems of Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty – Collection of Imperial Poems). It can be seen from the poem title that Emperor Qianlong thought it was a “pendant” that could be worn with ropes
